Langues : Français in Douleurs évaluation diagnostic Traitement > vol.25 n°4 (septembre 2024) . - p.212-219 Résumé : | Orofacial pain, often known as OFP, is a distinct category of dental problems that focuses on the prevention, evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of nonodontogenic disorders that manifest in the head and neck region. General dental practitioners (GDPs) and dental specialists other than oral medicine personnel are expected to have the certain level of knowledge and clinical abilities required to diagnose the OFP followed by the best practise treatment technique for addressing the patient's major complaint and relieving symptoms.
Novelty: this study is unique in the medical literature because it focuses on registered general dentists in Mysuru with varying practice experience.
In this study, a self-designed, pretested, and validated online structured questionnaire covering all components of knowledge required for OFP is used.
Outcome: this study clearly gives the evidence that a sincere need is necessary to emphasize the general dental practitioners lacked sufficient knowledge in deciphering persistent orofacial pain and suggests for greater emphasis on OFP courses in dentistry school in order to prepare future dentists, also continued dental education programs for the practicing dentists. |
